Eric Langshur Co-Founder/CEO

Eric Langshur

Eric is the CEO and co-founder of AVIA and co-founder of Abundant Venture Partners, a purpose based incubator focused on improving the human condition by creating companies that improve Human Wellness, Human Performance and Human Engagement.

A values-based entrepreneur, Eric is also a co-founder and director of LIFE CrossTraining and is also currently a director of Healthfinch, PUSH Wellness, Transparent Media Partners, and PatientWisdom.

Eric was an early leader in the social media field, as the founder of CarePages sold to Steve Case. Eric also founded Rise Health, a venture-backed healthcare digital technology company sold to Best Doctors.

Before transitioning to values-based entrepreneurship, Eric held top corporate executive positions at United Technologies Corporation and Bombardier Aerospace.

Eric is also a New York Times best-selling author. His book “Start Here: Master the Lifelong Habit of Wellbeing” was published by Simon and Schuster: North Star Way in 2016.

Ted Meisel Co-Founder

Ted Meisel

Ted is Co-founder of AVIA and active in ensuring that the firm fulfills its mission of accelerating transformation in healthcare. He is an experienced healthcare and technology entrepreneur, executive and investor.

Ted is the former CEO of public company Overture Services, an internet search company, which he led to over $1 billion in revenues before selling to Yahoo!. After leading the Overture division at Yahoo!, Ted became an investor at Elevation Partners, known for its stakes in companies like Facebook, Yelp, and Marketshare. He started his career working on strategy and change management engagements at Mercer and McKinsey

He serves Hope Street Group, an agent of policy change in social sectors, as board chairman, and recently CMS as a senior adviser focused on delivery system and payment reform.

Ted holds a JD from Stanford University and a BA from Dartmouth College.

Linda Finkel President

Linda Finkel is President of AVIA, the nation’s leading network of health systems and hospitals committed to transformation. Linda is an experienced business leader with more than 20 years running successful companies. As a health care innovator, she has collaborated with health-care organizations to improve quality, increase patient satisfaction and reduce cost.

Prior to joining AVIA, she served as Chief Operating Officer of Accretive Health’s population health business where she held responsibility for the core elements of service launch and delivery. Previously Linda held several executive leadership roles. These include Chief Operating Officer and co-head of Bowne Business Solutions, now Williams Lea USA, where she led the business to market leadership with revenue of $300 million and 3,000 employees in four countries. Prior to her role at Bowne, Linda served as President of Donnelley Business Services, the leading business services provider to top-tier financial institutions and professional service firms—which she grew from $30 million to $90 million in less than four years. Linda was part of the founding leadership team of the company which she helped take public and continued to run as the largest business unit of Donnelley Enterprise Solutions Inc, a publicly-traded NASDAQ company.

Linda holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Stanford University.

Amy Dirks Stevens Executive Vice President, Provider Solutions

Amy has held significant leadership roles across the healthcare spectrum, including health systems, clinical integration organizations, ambulatory services, and physician practice management. She has been responsible for operations, strategy, and growth at local, regional, and enterprise levels for large, multi-national for-profit health systems with academic and quaternary centers, as well as community faith-based, non-profit systems. She was instrumental in receiving FTC-approval for one of the nation’s vanguard clinical integration organizations and later became its President, managing the MSO services and a network of over 50 healthcare entities, 6000 providers and 30 performance-based contracts with employers, commercial and government payors. Prior to healthcare, Ms. Stevens was a sought-after consultant in the energy and environmental sectors for contentious projects with high public visibility and business impact.

At AVIA, Amy leads the work to match the pressing problems and business drivers of member health systems with viable digital solutions in the market, and scan the horizon for emerging opportunities that can propel the innovation agenda forward.

Cynthia is a solutions-oriented healthcare strategist and innovator. As the leader of AVIA’s team in the West, Cynthia assures that AVIA member health systems are achieving the greatest value from adoption of digital solutions.

Before joining AVIA, Cynthia served as the Senior Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at Hoag in Newport Beach, California.

Cynthia holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Cynthia believes that the network members, team, and friends of AVIA create a uniquely powerful ecosystem that can drive the needed change in the healthcare industry. She believes collaboration is the key to any organization seeking to implement significant change successfully.

Patti Sweeney Senior Vice President, East, Client Operations

Patti Sweeney

Patti is a results-focused executive with deep knowledge of the healthcare industry, executive relationship management, new business and program development, and executive networks. She has responsibility for AVIA clients in the eastern part of the country, bringing her expertise in forming high-performance trusting teams across disparate skillsets and cultures and her focus on designing custom client and partner solutions with collaboration and tenacity.

As the leader of AVIA’s client team in the East, Patti assures that AVIA member health systems are achieving the greatest value from adoption of digital solutions identified through AVIA’s unique membership model. She and her team work with members to deeply understand their strategy, market dynamics and aspirations to enable meaningful peer interactions with other members and implementation of innovative technologies to address critical organizational needs.

Patti joined AVIA because she relishes bringing innovative solutions to a broad range of healthcare challenges in the context of a long-term relationship with member organizations.


Peggy Baxter Chief of Staff & Vice President, Network Engagement

Peggy Baxter is the Chief of Staff and Vice President of Network Engagement for AVIA. She works in tandem with AVIA’s CEO and President to organize and lead initiatives focused on member experience, strategic growth, and organizational performance. As Chief of Staff, Peggy provides AVIA with the critical leadership, efficiency, and process necessary to operate as a high-performing and fast-paced organization.

Peggy has 20 years of healthcare experience and specializes in building partnerships with leading healthcare systems and industry partners. Prior to AVIA, she served as a business development executive with Objective Health, a group within McKinsey & Company that provides strategic and operational consulting services to community and regional health systems. Before joining McKinsey, Peggy spent nearly a decade as a Regional Vice President with Sg2, a health care analytics, research and consulting firm. She led the firm’s growth initiatives in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions and managed executive-level relationships across a diverse portfolio of health systems and hospitals.

Peggy holds a Master’s degree from the University of Chicago, with a specialized certificate in Health Administration and Policy, and a BA from the University of Vermont.

Derek Baird Vice President, Growth

As VP of Growth, Derek leads AVIA’s business development and marketing teams and engages with leading health systems to discuss potential membership in the AVIA Innovator Network.

Previously, Derek was an SVP for Health Language, guiding the company through explosive growth and its 2013 sale to Wolters Kluwer Health. He has also held marketing and product management leadership positions at Zynx Health and Practice Partner (now part of McKesson).

Derek holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BA in Business Administration from the University of Washington.

Derek joined AVIA for the opportunity to accelerate the work-in-progress transformation of American healthcare. And for the free lava lamp.

Mitch Corwin Vice President, Finance

As Vice President of Finance, Mitch is responsible for leading the financial management of the company and working with company leadership on financial decision-making.

Prior to joining AVIA, Mitch served in corporate finance leadership positions Catamaran Corporation (acquired by OptumRx) and Walgreen Co. Before moving into corporate finance, he led a team of stock research analysts at Morningstar, Inc. Mitch brings over 15 years of hands-on and successful experience leading Finance departments, new business initiatives, and consulting engagements.

Mitch is a CFA charterholder and a Certified Public Accountant. He holds a BBA degree from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business.

Mitch joined AVIA to be part of an energetic and passionate team dedicated to facing the most pressing challenges in healthcare today and driving meaningful change.

Jeanette Flom Vice President, Central, Client Operations

Jeanette is a strategic convener and leader who is passionate about understanding an organization’s needs and creating strategic partnerships that are mutually beneficial. At AVIA Jeanette leads the Central Region health systems in their journey to leverage digital health tools that deliver results.

Prior to pursuing a position at AVIA, she served as East Division Vice President – Development & Stewardship at the American Diabetes Association, with more than a decade bringing likeminded C-Suite executives and their organizations together to do good business. Previously she held leadership positions at the American Heart Association.

Jeanette holds a B.S. degree in Business Computer Information Systems from St Cloud State University and served a five-year sentence as a Software Engineer and Business Analyst. Jeanette is an active member of the Chicago Executives Club and Director of the club’s Leadership Advisory Board.

Jeanette joined AVIA to further her mission to provide technology solutions to improve the healthcare community. She is passionate about making an impact and being part of a fast paced, visionary and brilliant team.

Eric Flyckt, MD Vice President, Product

Dr. Eric Flyckt has spent his career focused on the intersection of healthcare, analytics, and technology.

Previously, as Vice President of Informatics at Jiff, Eric developed analytic products as part of an enterprise health benefits platform, and led product management at Explorys, creating data-driven tools to improve clinical quality management and care coordination. Before that Eric spent seven years in McKinsey & Co.’s healthcare practice, addressing strategic and operational issues with health systems, payers, and life science companies, as well as leading analytics and product management for McKinsey’s Objective Health.

Eric earned his MD from Stanford University School of Medicine, and his undergraduate degrees in Cognitive Science and Biology from the University of Denver, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.

Eric is excited to lead the development of AVIA’s digital platform, building on AVIA’s successful model to further foster collaboration and learning from others’ experience and expertise to accelerate the adoption of emerging tools that will transform healthcare.

As VP of Provider Solutions, Ariana leads a team which presents and evaluates the best fit digital health solutions that meet providers’ most pressing challenges.

Prior to joining AVIA, Ariana worked as a management consultant with Bain & Company and the boutique firm, Mission Measurement. She advised companies on strategy, organizational change and measurement.. She also served as a research fellow at the Innosight Institute where she co-authored studies on disruptive innovations within integrated health systems.

Ariana holds a MBA from Harvard University and a BA from Pomona College.

Ariana joined AVIA because healthcare is an industry which impacts everyone and there is so much opportunity to make people’s lives better.

P. Nelson Le, MD Medical Director

As Medical Director, Nelson provides clinical leadership and expertise in translating health system and clinical operational needs into opportunities for innovation.

Prior to AVIA, Nelson was Senior Clinical Advisor at InterSystems where he helped global healthcare organizations develop and execute strategies for better healthcare delivery through technology. At McKesson Provider Technologies, Nelson was Vice President of Medical Affairs, where he received the company’s award for innovative process improvement.

Nelson earned his MD from Boston University’s Accelerated BA/MD Program, completed his Residency in Pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Informatics from Oregon Health and Sciences University and MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Nelson joined AVIA to make a difference at scale.

Oliver Lignell Vice President, Virtual Health

Oliver brings more than twenty​-five​ years of healthcare strategy and initiative delivery experience to AVIA including solution work in clinical call center, care management, acute, and ambulatory settings. He is responsible for leading strategy and member initiatives in Virtual Health, a consumer focused, IoT informed, and AI enhanced vision for Telehealth and Telemedicine.

Prior to his role with AVIA, Oliver was partner and provider business consulting practice lead with Cognizant, enterprise director at CIGNA, national director of information management with Kaiser Permanente, and senior manager at Accenture. An engaging presenter, Oliver has been an invited speaker at national conferences, workshops, and ​webinars.

Oliver is a certified project management professional, holds a BA in Economics from the University of California Santa Cruz​, and earned an Associate in Risk Management designation. He has also studied human centered design, agile, CMMI, and principle centered leadership.

He joined AVIA to drive outsized improvements in population health and care delivery through v​irtual health solutions, though the chance to start the AVIA ski club couldn’t be passed up​.

Jason Lineen Vice President, Strategy

Jason is a results-oriented healthcare innovation strategist with broad experience advising health system executives, physician leaders and trustees on their most critical “fork in the road” issues. As the leader of AVIA’s Strategy Team, Jason’s focus is connecting-the-dots between organizational strategic priorities and designing/enabling high performing innovation teams to achieve transformative results.

With nearly 20 years’ experience, Jason has conducted over 100 consulting engagements advising some of the nation’s leading health systems and academic medical centers (AMCs) on matters related to strategic planning, innovation capacity development, mergers/acquisitions/affiliations and the journey to value-based care. Previously Jason was a Director at Navigant Consulting, where he helped build the Healthcare Provider Strategy and M&A practice to over 100 professionals. In addition to leading numerous health system strategy engagements at Navigant, Jason completed hospital M&A transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $1.5 billion. Prior to Navigant, Jason was a healthcare strategist at the Tiber Group (a Chicago-based consultancy acquired by Navigant). He began his consulting career in Health IT at Deloitte.

A frequent speaker and author, Jason has presented at national meetings of American Hospital Association Center for Healthcare Governance and the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development (SHSMD) and is a lecturer at Loyola University’s Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy. Jason holds a MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and a BBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Linda Lockwood Vice President, Clinical and Quality Informatics

Linda has over 30 years of leadership experience in healthcare and a passion for identifying key outcomes that help health systems ensure technology is improving clinician and financial performance. At AVIA, Linda leads the Market Strategies and Business and Clinical Intelligence Teams, supporting market research and building the case to estimate and measure impact.

Prior to joining AVIA, Linda held numerous leadership roles in the consulting and vendor space. She has designed systems and processes to support best practice and regulatory compliance that enable data aggregation and analysis. Linda’s service line leadership has focused on Clinical Advisory Services for FCG, The Advisory Board, Eclypsis/Allscripts, Encore and CTG. Her practices focused on positioning providers to build their HIT foundation and organizational strategy to capture eMeasures, driving performance improvement and enabling them to compete in the fee-for-value world.

Linda is an RN, with an MBA from Loyola College. She is certified in Patient Centered Medical Home and has spoken and written nationally on value and outcomes measurement, population health, and informatics.

Linda joined AVIA to share her experiences and work with likeminded people who are passionate about making a difference in healthcare.

Kevin Meinert Vice President, Engineering

As the Vice President of Engineering, Kevin leads the organization in technical strategy, architecture, and implementation of apps and tooling as well as deep-dive technical due diligence interviews of external and health system partners.

Prior to joining AVIA, he was CTO at Level EX where he built the engineering team to create game-changing, ultra-realistic 3D virtual surgery mobile phone and tablet apps so physicians can master minimally invasive procedures without risk to live patients. Kevin has also led teams at HERE Maps to develop data products such as Street View (360-degree panoramic imagery) plus cutting edge mobile apps showcasing next generation 3D Maps with glamorous 3D virtual flythroughs, clean Ux, and smart data visualization. He has core graphics rendering and visual effects & simulation experience in the video games industry where he notably leads visual effects for Star Wars The Force Unleashed for Lucasfilm. He also has an extensive background in Virtual Reality across a range of devices and applications and interaction techniques.

Kevin holds an MS and BS in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University.

He joined AVIA because he saw the drive, passion, and diverse spread of talent and intelligence in the people there, and was excited at the potential to apply his experience to improve healthcare.

Amanda Schleede

Amanda is responsible for overall company operations focusing on Human Resources, Recruiting, Office Management and Executive Team special projects. Amanda is a trusted resource for the Executive Team and provides the leadership necessary for AVIA to operate as a high-performing and fast-paced organization.

Amanda has over 20 years of experience in healthcare consulting and company operations. Prior to joining AVIA, Amanda was Chief of Staff for Oliver Wyman’s Health and Life Sciences (HLS) practice. She also worked as the Executive Recruiter and Human Resources Manager for ChapterHouse, LLC, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.

Amanda holds a BS in Education with a concentration in Health and Human Services and a Professional in Human Resources certification from DePaul University.

Amanda chose AVIA for the amazing team, culture and the desire to make meaningful changes to healthcare through innovation.

As Vice President of Client Operations, Michael is responsible for ensuring that AVIA’s health system clients and strategic partners achieve value in their relationships with AVIA.

Prior to joining AVIA, Michaelserved as Vice President of Client Relations at Sg2, responsible for client retention, business development, and product and service delivery across a diverse portfolio of health system clients. Earlier in his career, Michael worked as part of the strategy practice at Deloitte Consulting and held sales and marketing roles with Merck & Co.

Michael holds an MBA from Northwestern University and a BS from Miami University, Magna Cum Laude.

Michael joined AVIA because, like most kids growing up in Northeastern Ohio, he always dreamed of working for a leading innovation network and health system partner.

As the Senior Director of Client Operations, Gena oversees the day-to-day relationships with our network members, serving as a guide through onboarding, tool selection, contracting, and implementation.

Prior to joining AVIA, she managed fundraising projects at Health Leads, a national organization that connects low-income hospital patients to vital social resources. Gena has also worked in Southern Africa as a strategy consultant for TechnoServe and as a member of the convenings team at New Profit Inc., a Boston-based venture philanthropy fund.

Gena holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA from Tufts University.

As the Senior Director of Client Operations, Christine is responsible for ensuring that AVIA’s health system clients in the West realize maximum value of their network membership by deeply understanding each client’s digital objectives and connecting relevant products, tools, and resources to accelerate their goals.

Prior to joining AVIA, she structured strategic partnerships as part of the Corporate Development team at Kaiser Permanente, focusing on digital health and senior care markets. Earlier in her career, Christine held product management and market planning roles at Abbott and Genentech, developing and launching products in the cardiovascular space. As the Founder of a digital startup for family caregivers, Sharefund, Christine furthered her business expertise in developing early staged companies from concept to launch.

Christine holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BS in Combined Science from Santa Clara University.

Brandon has spent his career focused on the digitization of healthcare through a variety of delivery approaches with a focus on innovative partnerships.

Brandon leads the Execution team at AVIA, where he works with network members and digital solution companies to increase the speed and efficiency of realizing the benefits of digital adoptions.

Prior to AVIA, Brandon spent nearly 10 years at Epic working in implementation with a focus on implementation strategy, planning, and execution across a wide variety of healthcare organizations and products.

Brandon joined AVIA to be a part of transforming healthcare into a forward-thinking leader of industries. Oh, and the free yoga.

Joel Hasenwinkel Senior Director, East, Client Operations

Joel Hasenwinkel

Joel is passionate about uniting people, process, and technology to drive exceptional results in new ways. In his role as Senior Director of Client Operations, Joel helps his health system clients link strategy to digital solutions with the intention to scale to maximize impact for the organization.

Joel’s healthcare career spans the continuum and includes diverse stakeholder perspectives. His work has included post-acute care, health system strategies to prepare for at-risk contracts, population health, disease management, and wellness solutions for large employers as well as broad payer experience. Most recently, Joel was the Sr. Vice President of Shared Services at naviHealth, a Cardinal Health company, and was responsible for implementations, project management, centralized clinical services, and process improvement. His Six Sigma and technology background equip him to seek opportunities to create improved outcomes.

Joel graduated with a B.A. in Management from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

He chose to join AVIA to be a part of an inquisitive and driven team focused exclusively on driving transformation in healthcare.

Jill Seidman Senior Director, Provider Solutions

Jill works on the Provider Solutions team and is focused on AVIA’s value based care initiatives. In her role, she helps guide AVIA’s network from the prioritization of their technology needs to selection and through successful implementation, in challenge areas ranging from improving mental health access to addressing social determinants of health.

Jill has over ten years of experience working at the intersection of healthcare delivery and technology. Prior to joining AVIA, Jill was the Director of Quality & Innovation and served on the leadership team at Alivio Medical Center, a system of federally-qualified health centers on the west side of Chicago. Before that, Jill was an early team member at Healthbox, one of the first US-based healthcare accelerators for digital solutions, even driving the launch of a Tel Aviv accelerator.

Jill holds an MPH from Yale University in Health Policy & Management and a BA in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University.

Jill joined AVIA to help innovative digital solutions find the necessary market traction to grow and because you can never say no to working with Peggy Baxter.

As the Senior Director of Marketing, Nicole oversees the development, implementation, and tracking of AVIA’s marketing strategies, communications, and digital activities.

Previously, Nicole was a Director at GE Ventures creating new business opportunities for GE and its partners in the area of digital health. She has also held marketing and product management leadership roles at GE Healthcare in traditional and emerging businesses.

Nicole holds an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BSE in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Iowa.

Nicole joined AVIA because it was the perfect opportunity to be center stage at the intersection of health and technology.

April Savage Director, Talent Acquisition

As Director of Talent Acquisition, April is charged with finding the curious and motivated healthcare innovators to join the AVIA team.

Prior to joining AVIA, April was led Global Healthcare Services research at executive search firm Egon Zehnder where she worked for global organizations in healthcare ranging from public to private sector, for- and non-profit, healthcare payors, providers, analytics and consumer health. April also served in Public Affairs and Government Relations for Humana. Earlier in her career, she served in leadership positions with the Wisconsin Public Interest Research Group.

April holds a Bachelor’s in Government from Lawrence University and a Master’s in Public Policy and Public Administration, with an emphasis on healthcare, from Northwestern University.

April joined AVIA because healthcare touches us all, and we can and must make healthcare better- inaction is not an option.

Kate Soden Director, Marketing Communications

As the Director of Marketing Communications, Kate oversees the creation and management of AVIA’s brand messaging, communications, and public relations activities.

Previously, Kate was a Senior Brand Performance Consultant with SGK where she developed strategic marketing recommendations for C-Suite clients by evaluating brand portfolios, organizational structures, workflows, and technology to guide clients through transformational change. She also worked for Accenture as a Marketing Communications Specialist, leading all communications for the CIO group, creating marketing assets like blogs, videos, case studies, and podcasts, and planning and executing three global webcasts annually.

Kate holds a BS from Cornell University and an MBA from DePaul University.

Kate joined AVIA to accelerate the transformation of healthcare and lead the company kickball team to a championship.

Stacey Quince Director, Finance & Accounting

Stacey brings over 8 years of US and international accounting & finance experience across the retail, consumer, biotech & healthcare sectors along with a passionate work ethic to AVIA. As Financial Controller, Stacey is responsible for the accounting operations of the company and guiding financial decisions by establishing and enforcing policies and reporting in support of company leadership.

Prior to joining AVIA, Stacey was a Manager in the Consumer and Industrial Products and Services Assurance division at PwC Australia/US. Within her role, Stacey gained comprehensive insight into business operations, dealing with major risk areas, profit factors, customer relationships and financial management across a portfolio of iconic US and Australian brands, large listed multi-nationals and privately held companies. Projects included financial due diligence, profitability analysis, contract negotiation advise, financial impact of strategy implementation and audit engagements.

Stacey is a Certified Public Accountant. She holds a Masters of Accountancy (MAcc) & Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSAcc) from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Stacey joined AVIA to be a part of a passionate team devoted to executing our mission- and who have a bit of FUN along the way.

Prior to joining AVIA, Kathryn was a project manager/implementation consultant at Epic, where she served health systems in their enterprise EHR deployments. Her work included testing leadership and revenue cycle advisory.

Kathryn holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame where she graduated cum laude.

Before coming to AVIA, Janice worked for Rush University Medical Center and at the American Health Information Management Association. Janice began her career in education, teaching science on Chicago’s south side.

Janice holds a MS in Health Systems Management from Rush University. She also holds a BA from Vanderbilt University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Janice serves on the advisory board of GoodCity Chicago, a social impact organization committed to high potential community-based entrepreneurs solving complex social and economic issues within the city.

Janice joined AVIA because of her belief that digital provides new and needed answers to some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges.

She also completed an Administrative Fellowship at Loyola University Health System where she served as project manager for various strategic and operational initiatives as well as earned her Lean-Six Sigma Green Belt certificate.

Pascale Dargis Manager, Client Operations

Pascale comes from a series of startup companies with experience in health technology product and program management as well as business development. As a Manager of Client Operations, Pascale oversees the day-to-day relationships with members serving as a guide through onboarding, tool selection, contracting, and implementation.

Prior to joining AVIA, Pascale joined a UX/UI firm where she led business development efforts across a number of industries. After a number of years in this field, she decided to pursue her passion of healthcare technology and joined Healthbox, a healthcare accelerator. Here she worked with 25 portfolio companies through three accelerator programs as a Program Manager. Most recently she worked at Ludi, one of Healthbox’s portfolio companies, where she was product manager for a physician contracting compliance tool.

After graduating from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Pascale made the move to Chicago and has been on the professional board for Imerman Angels where she is now acting as the Vice President of the group for the second year.

Pascale joined AVIA to continue her work across a variety of verticals within healthcare. Her hope is to solve all IT capacity issues within health systems across the country.

Steve has a background in performance improvement (PI) with experience in both the automotive and healthcare industries. As a member of the Provider Solutions’ Strategic Resources Team, he supports the digital innovation goals of AVIA’s members across all areas of focus.

Steve began his career at Navistar where he held roles in manufacturing, logistics, purchasing, and product development. He then transitioned to the healthcare industry, where he held PI roles at IHA (a multi-specialty physician group) and then Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. His work spanned facilitating PI projects and spreading improvement science knowledge and culture via teaching and mentorship. He also completed a practicum experience at MATTER, a healthcare incubator in Chicago.

Steve holds an MPH from DePaul University and a BSE in Industrial & Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. He is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.

Steve joined AVIA to impact a greater population in healthcare through digital innovation – blending his interest in technology and his passion to make a difference for patients and families.

Prior to joining AVIA, Neal improved healthcare on a patient-by-patient basis as an Orthopedic Trauma Sales Representative for Stryker. By growing market share and becoming a trusted resource for surgeons, OR staff and health systems, Neal experienced the challenges that providers face on a daily basis.

Prior to joining AVIA, she worked in the Advisory Board Company’s Healthcare division based in Washington, DC. In her time at the Advisory Board Company, she led developing research and best practices for hospitals’ Chief Nursing Officers and Chief HR Officers to improve initiatives such as patient experience, care coordination, clinician burnout and employee wellness.

Driven by opportunities in strategy and execution that support healthcare transformation. As a Manager for Execution, Tiwi is an integral part of AVIA’s partnerships with health system members and digital solution companies to effectively and efficiently implement solutions at scale.

Previously, Tiwi was VP of Operations for a biotechnology startup company. She also held positions with Sg2 Consulting practice as well as AbbVie. Tiwi is also Founder and President of RightStanding Inc., a faith-based non-profit to support the mental and emotional development of teenage girls. She is on the Board of Directors for the non-profit Impacting Lives Foundation, which is dedicated to healthy parental relationships, financial counseling, and global mission work.

Tiwi earned an MPH-Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a BS in Biology from Loyola University Chicago.

As a member of the Product team, Zak leads the development of AVIA’s digital platform, AVIA Connect. The AVIA Connect platform fosters collaboration and shared learning from others’ experience and expertise. Building on that connectivity, it layers in standard, repeatable tools and processes to accelerate the adoption of emerging solutions that will transform healthcare.
Prior to joining AVIA, Zak worked in Analytics and Strategy at Hub Group. As a founding member of the analytics team, he focused on building short and long-term forecasts and predictive models to optimize network management, improve sales and pricing strategy, and better understand financial drivers in the market.
Zak holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Wheaton College and is earning his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, focusing on Strategy, Healthcare, and Entrepreneurship.

Prior to joining AVIA, he was consulting for Accenture’s technical practice where he specialized in enterprise social & collaboration technologies. Before settling on software engineering, he worked as an M&A Research Associate for a technology incubator based out of Colorado.

Jaron holds a B.S. summa cum laude from Colorado State University where he attended as a Daniels Scholar. During his education, he served as both the CIO and Lead Technology Analyst of the university’s endowment fund. He also interned with Hewlett Packard and Wolf Robotics.

Prior to joining AVIA, he was a Business Analyst for Lifeline Vascular Access, a strategic business unit of DaVita HealthCare Partners, which co-owns and operates a network of 80+ freestanding vascular surgery centers. His work spanned business development, clinical intelligence and analytics, medical device forecasting, and project management.

Josh holds a B.S. from Northwestern University in Social Policy. He serves as a court-appointed advocate for CASA, an organization dedicated to advocating for and supporting children in the foster care system who are victims of child abuse and neglect.

Prior to joining AVIA, Phil worked at Huron Consulting Group and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In these roles, he developed and led process and quality improvement initiatives surrounding patient and hospital billing practices, patient experience, care coordination and mental health promotion.

Phil holds an MPH from UCLA and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Katy holds a Master’s degree in Administration and Human Resources from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor’s in Health Sciences from Indiana University.

Dr. Button is an experienced clinical professional with many years’ experience in the healthcare industry. Throughout her career, Dr. Button’s passion has been improving the safety, quality, and efficiency of patient care. Her knowledge, skills, and experience include clinical practice, education, quality improvement, clinical informatics, clinical decision support, population health management, as well as product and project management.

Leveraging the combination of these skills, Dr. Button has held clinical, product and operational management, and senior leadership positions in a variety of health systems, educational, for profit and not for profit organizations including The Advisory Board Company, Zynx Health, and Cerner Corporation. She taught at Syracuse University School of Nursing, and has had Adjunct Faculty positions at various schools of nursing. She also held clinical leadership roles at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital to name a few.

Dr. Button has also held various consulting positions outside of the health care industry and enjoyed a “sabbatical” when she owned and ran The Heart of the Village Inn in Shelburne, Vermont. Dr. Button is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences.

Dr. Molly Joel Coye is an Executive-in-Residence at AVIA and a member of the board of directors of Aetna, Inc. From 2010-2015, Dr. Coye served as Chief Innovation Officer for UCLA Health and head of the Institute for Innovation at UCLA, where she led the health system in identifying new strategies, technologies, products and services to support the large-scale transformation of healthcare. Dr. Coye also advises technology developers, investors, national health systems, and policy makers about disruptive technologies and business models that accelerate transformation.

From 1999-2010 Dr. Coye was Founder and CEO of the Health Technology Center, the premier forecasting organization for emerging technologies in healthcare. She has also served as Commissioner of Health for the State of New Jersey, Director of the California Department of Health Services, and Head of the Division of Public Health Practice at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene.

An elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, Dr. Coye has been a board member of the American Hospital Association and the American Telemedicine Association, and chaired the board of the American Public Health Association and of PATH, one of the largest nonprofit organizations in global health.

Bill is one of our nation’s leading healthcare executives with over 35 years of senior executive experience. He is the recently retired Chief Executive Officer of Froedtert Health Inc. in Milwaukee

Bill served as chair of the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees, the Wisconsin Hospital Association and the Council of Teaching Hospitals.

He holds an MHA from the University of Minnesota.

Bill has always thought that working in healthcare was a special calling, focusing on the patients has always guided direction and purpose. As the CEO of a major academic medical center he always made sure focus was never lost.

Leslie Wainwright Executive-In-Residence

Leslie has been a founding executive of multiple cutting-edge healthcare startup companies including Sg2 and AVIA. She is actively working on a third start up – Business Models Inc. – a global consultancy that helps organizations better define their current business model(s) and craft new ones to either keep pace or grow.

Her passion revolves around entrepreneurship, healthcare and innovation with her career spanning the disciplines of academic research, pharma/biotechnology and healthcare delivery. Leslie is a frequent speaker/facilitator on the future of healthcare, enabling technologies, disruptive innovation, growth strategies and emerging business models.

She received a Ph.D. from Northwestern University and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Maryland’s Center for Vaccine Development.

As Chief Operations Officer of Abundant Venture Partners, Sharon brings an extensive background in accelerating early-stage technology and healthcare startup businesses with expertise in finance, human resources, legal, and insurance.

Sharon co-founded CarePages, Inc., a healthcare Internet service linking patients and families with their extended support community, in 2000, and operated in many different roles until its acquisition in 2007 by Revolution Health. Roy Smythe, MD has been appointed CEO of HX360. Dr. Smythe has most recently been the first Chief Medical Officer of AVIA. Prior to joining AVIA, Dr. Smythe served as the Senior Vice President for Institute Development and Medical Director of Innovation for the Scott & White Healthcare system. He was also tenured Professor of Surgery, Medicine, and Molecular Medicine, and the Glen and Rita K. Roney Endowed Chair for the Texas A&M Health Science Center.

Dr. Smythe is an expert in the areas of health care innovation and integrated health care delivery strategy. Throughout his career, Dr. Smythe has focused on exploring innovation — as an internationally-recognized specialty surgeon, a leading molecular therapeutics laboratory investigator, a medical school and health system department chair, and health system executive. His time as a health system leader was focused on a number of clinical, academic and administrative areas, including governance, strategic planning and innovation.

He has published more than 300 manuscripts, articles and essays in both the academic and lay press in subject areas ranging from biomedical investigation and clinical delivery process, to the more human aspects of medical care. He is currently a featured contributor for Forbes.

Dr. Smythe is a passionate evangelist for the need to change the way that health care is delivered in our lifetimes, and the ability to do so using strategies and technologies that are currently available.

Alan it is national leader in the areas of health care management, supply chain optimization and hospital strategy.

Alan founded and is former President of Premier, Inc. Prior to Premier, he worked with various groups of hospitals, including serving as the CEO and founder of the Premier Health Alliance. He also served as the Executive Vice President at the Illinois Hospital Association, the President and Chief Executive Officer of North Suburban Association for Health Resources in Northbrook, Ill., and as the Executive Director of the Midtown Hospital Association in Denver.

Alan holds an MBA from Cornell University and a BA from Allegheny College.
