Eric is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Abundant Venture Partners, a purpose-based incubator focused on improving the human condition by creating companies that improve Human Wellness, Human Performance and Human Engagement. Eric is also the founder and CEO of AVIA, the nation’s leading healthcare innovation network.

A values-based entrepreneur, Eric is co-founder and director of LIFE-XT, AHA!, Transparent, Helus, and Front Porch. Eric also serves as a director of Healthfinch and WiserCare. Eric was an early leader in the digital health and media fields, as the founder of CarePages (sold to Steve Case), founder of Rise Health, (sold to Best Doctors), Frequency 540 (sold to Publicis Groupe) and Ardent.io (sold to Publicis Groupe). Before transitioning to values-based entrepreneurship, Eric held top corporate executive positions at both United Technologies Corporation and Bombardier Aerospace.

Throughout his career Eric has also been actively involved in community leadership roles. He serves on the boards of The Joint Commission, the organization that accredits 20,000 global healthcare organizations and also the Center for Transforming Healthcare. Eric also serves on the board of HopeLab, the Omidyar Group’s foundation to improve the health and well-being of adolescents and young adults. He is also past Chairman of Nutmeg Big Brothers/Big Sisters and director of DC based National Family Caregiver Association.

Eric is a New York Times best-selling author. His book “Start Here: Master the Lifelong Habit of Wellbeing” was published by Simon and Schuster: North Star Way in 2017 and has been translated and released internationally by Hachette/Larousse.

Ted Meisel Co-Founder

Ted is Co-founder of AVIA and active in ensuring that the firm fulfills its mission of accelerating transformation in healthcare. He is an experienced healthcare and technology entrepreneur, executive and investor.

Ted is the former CEO of public company Overture Services, an internet search company, which he led to over $1 billion in revenues before selling to Yahoo!. After leading the Overture division at Yahoo!, Ted became an investor at Elevation Partners, known for its stakes in companies like Facebook, Yelp, and Marketshare. He started his career working on strategy and change management engagements at Mercer and McKinsey

He serves Hope Street Group, an agent of policy change in social sectors, as board chairman, and recently CMS as a senior adviser focused on delivery system and payment reform.

Ted holds a JD from Stanford University and a BA from Dartmouth College.

Linda Finkel is President of AVIA, the nation’s leading network of health systems and hospitals committed to transformation. Linda is an experienced business leader with more than 20 years running successful companies. As a health care innovator, she has collaborated with health-care organizations to improve quality, increase patient satisfaction and reduce cost.

Prior to joining AVIA, she served as Chief Operating Officer of Accretive Health’s population health business where she held responsibility for the core elements of service launch and delivery. Previously Linda held several executive leadership roles. These include Chief Operating Officer and co-head of Bowne Business Solutions, now Williams Lea USA, where she led the business to market leadership with revenue of $300 million and 3,000 employees in four countries. Prior to her role at Bowne, Linda served as President of Donnelley Business Services, the leading business services provider to top-tier financial institutions and professional service firms—which she grew from $30 million to $90 million in less than four years. Linda was part of the founding leadership team of the company which she helped take public and continued to run as the largest business unit of Donnelley Enterprise Solutions Inc, a publicly-traded NASDAQ company.

Linda holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Stanford University.

Amy has held significant leadership roles across the healthcare spectrum, including health systems, clinical integration organizations, ambulatory services, and physician practice management. She has been responsible for operations, strategy, and growth at local, regional, and enterprise levels for large, multi-national for-profit health systems with academic and quaternary centers, as well as community faith-based, non-profit systems. She was instrumental in receiving FTC-approval for one of the nation’s vanguard clinical integration organizations and later became its President, managing the MSO services and a network of over 50 healthcare entities, 6000 providers and 30 performance-based contracts with employers, commercial and government payors. Prior to healthcare, Ms. Stevens was a sought-after consultant in the energy and environmental sectors for contentious projects with high public visibility and business impact.

At AVIA, Amy leads the work to match the pressing problems and business drivers of member health systems with viable digital solutions in the market, and scan the horizon for emerging opportunities that can propel the innovation agenda forward.

Patti is a results-focused executive with deep knowledge of the healthcare industry, executive relationship management, new business and program development, and executive networks. She has responsibility for all AVIA clients, bringing her expertise in forming high-performance trusting teams across disparate skill sets and cultures and her focus on designing custom client and partner solutions with collaboration and tenacity.

As the leader of AVIA’s client team, Patti assures that AVIA member health systems are achieving the greatest value from adoption of digital solutions identified through AVIA’s unique membership model. She and her team work with members to deeply understand their strategy, market dynamics and aspirations to enable meaningful peer interactions with other members and implementation of innovative technologies to address critical organizational needs.

Patti joined AVIA because she relishes bringing innovative solutions to a broad range of healthcare challenges in the context of a long-term relationship with member organizations.

As SVP of Growth, Derek leads AVIA’s business development and marketing teams and engages with leading health systems to discuss potential membership in the AVIA Innovator Network.

Previously, Derek was an SVP for Health Language, guiding the company through explosive growth and its 2013 sale to Wolters Kluwer Health. He has also held marketing and product management leadership positions at Zynx Health and Practice Partner (now part of McKesson).

Derek holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a BA in Business Administration from the University of Washington.

Derek joined AVIA for the opportunity to accelerate the work-in-progress transformation of American healthcare. And for the free lava lamp.

Jason is a results-oriented healthcare innovation strategist with broad experience advising health system executives, physician leaders and trustees on their most critical “fork in the road” issues. As the leader of AVIA’s Strategy Team, Jason’s focus is connecting-the-dots between organizational strategic priorities and designing/enabling high performing innovation teams to achieve transformative results.

With nearly 20 years’ experience, Jason has conducted over 100 consulting engagements advising some of the nation’s leading health systems and academic medical centers (AMCs) on matters related to strategic planning, innovation capacity development, mergers/acquisitions/affiliations and the journey to value-based care. Previously Jason was a Director at Navigant Consulting, where he helped build the Healthcare Provider Strategy and M&A practice to over 100 professionals. In addition to leading numerous health system strategy engagements at Navigant, Jason completed hospital M&A transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $1.5 billion. Prior to Navigant, Jason was a healthcare strategist at the Tiber Group (a Chicago-based consultancy acquired by Navigant). He began his consulting career in Health IT at Deloitte.

A frequent speaker and author, Jason has presented at national meetings of American Hospital Association Center for Healthcare Governance and the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development (SHSMD) and is a lecturer at Loyola University’s Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy. Jason holds a MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and a BBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Cynthia is a solutions-oriented healthcare strategist and innovator. As the leader of AVIA’s team in the West, Cynthia assures that AVIA member health systems are achieving the greatest value from adoption of digital solutions.

Before joining AVIA, Cynthia served as the Senior Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at Hoag in Newport Beach, California.

Cynthia holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Cynthia believes that the network members, team, and friends of AVIA create a uniquely powerful ecosystem that can drive the needed change in the healthcare industry. She believes collaboration is the key to any organization seeking to implement significant change successfully.

Eric is a passionate evangelist for healthcare transformation who has served as a management consultant, entrepreneur, and an operator during the course of his career. As Chief Operating Officer of PhysIQ, Eric is responsible for overseeing commercial operations including marketing, business development, customer success, and product.

Prior to joining PhysIQ, Eric served as COO and Co-Founder of AVIA. He also led the health systems business at Healthgrades, the leading consumer marketing solution for health systems to find, acquire, and retain patients. Earlier in his career, Eric was as an Associate Partner with McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. At McKinsey, Eric served clients across the spectrum of health insurance companies, healthcare providers, and the federal government.

Eric holds an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and a B.S. in chemical engineering from the Ohio State University.

Mitch Corwin Vice President, Finance

As Vice President of Finance, Mitch is responsible for leading the financial management of the company and working with company leadership on financial decision-making.

Prior to joining AVIA, Mitch served in corporate finance leadership positions Catamaran Corporation (acquired by OptumRx) and Walgreen Co. Before moving into corporate finance, he led a team of stock research analysts at Morningstar, Inc. Mitch brings over 15 years of hands-on and successful experience leading Finance departments, new business initiatives, and consulting engagements.

Mitch is a CFA charterholder and a Certified Public Accountant. He holds a BBA degree from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business.

Mitch joined AVIA to be part of an energetic and passionate team dedicated to facing the most pressing challenges in healthcare today and driving meaningful change.

Dr. Eric Flyckt has spent his career focused on the intersection of healthcare, analytics, and technology.

Previously, as Vice President of Informatics at Jiff, Eric developed analytic products as part of an enterprise health benefits platform, and led product management at Explorys, creating data-driven tools to improve clinical quality management and care coordination. Before that Eric spent seven years in McKinsey & Co.’s healthcare practice, addressing strategic and operational issues with health systems, payers, and life science companies, as well as leading analytics and product management for McKinsey’s Objective Health.

Eric earned his MD from Stanford University School of Medicine, and his undergraduate degrees in Cognitive Science and Biology from the University of Denver, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.

Eric is excited to lead the development of AVIA’s digital platform, building on AVIA’s successful model to further foster collaboration and learning from others’ experience and expertise to accelerate the adoption of emerging tools that will transform healthcare.

Jeanette is a strategic convener and leader who is passionate about understanding an organization’s needs and creating strategic partnerships that are mutually beneficial. At AVIA Jeanette leads the Central Region health systems in their journey to leverage digital health tools that deliver results.

Prior to pursuing a position at AVIA, she served as East Division Vice President – Development & Stewardship at the American Diabetes Association, with more than a decade bringing likeminded C-Suite executives and their organizations together to do good business. Previously she held leadership positions at the American Heart Association.

Jeanette holds a B.S. degree in Business Computer Information Systems from St Cloud State University and served a five-year sentence as a Software Engineer and Business Analyst. Jeanette is an active member of the Chicago Executives Club and Director of the club’s Leadership Advisory Board.

Jeanette joined AVIA to further her mission to provide technology solutions to improve the healthcare community. She is passionate about making an impact and being part of a fast paced, visionary and brilliant team.

Daryl Sneed Head of Talent

Daryl joined the leadership team at AVIA as their Head of Talent in 2018. He has firsthand knowledge of the unique strategic and operational aspects of delivering expert-based intelligence, products and services to industry-leading healthcare organizations, Daryl works closely alongside the leadership and the entire AVIA team to design and execute strategy specific to career planning, performance management, manager coaching, people metrics, compensation and rewards, employee relations, learning and development, and recognition programs.

Prior to working at AVIA, Daryl was the Chief Talent Officer at Sg2 where he formulated and implemented talent initiatives for the 180+ employee, $40M+ healthcare organization that emphasized increasing the organization’s productivity, providing employees with career opportunities for growth and enhancing overall company culture. He managed a diverse HR team comprised of compensation, benefit, performance management, recruiting and professional development professionals.

Daryl has a B.A. from Rhodes College and an M.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.

Peggy Baxter is the Chief of Staff for AVIA. She works in tandem with AVIA’s CEO and President to organize and lead initiatives focused on member experience, strategic growth, and organizational performance. As Chief of Staff, Peggy provides AVIA with the critical leadership, efficiency, and process necessary to operate as a high-performing and fast-paced organization.

Peggy has 20 years of healthcare experience and specializes in building partnerships with leading healthcare systems and industry partners. Prior to AVIA, she served as a business development executive with Objective Health, a group within McKinsey & Company that provides strategic and operational consulting services to community and regional health systems. Before joining McKinsey, Peggy spent nearly a decade as a Regional Vice President with Sg2, a health care analytics, research and consulting firm. She led the firm’s growth initiatives in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions and managed executive-level relationships across a diverse portfolio of health systems and hospitals.

Peggy holds a Master’s degree from the University of Chicago, with a specialized certificate in Health Administration and Policy, and a BA from the University of Vermont.

Andy Slavitt has decades of private and public sector leadership in health care. Over his career, Andy has shaped some of the most significant and successful initiatives in health care impacting millions of Americans and the shape of the health care system.

For the last two years, he served as the Acting Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) under President Obama, overseeing the Medicaid, Medicare, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the Health Insurance Marketplace, where he also oversaw the healthcare.gov turnaround in 2013. Under his leadership, the U.S. health care system saw record reductions in the uninsured rate, nationwide improvements in quality, record low cost growth, and a major resurgence in value-based payment models.

Dr. Molly Joel Coye is an Executive-in-Residence at AVIA and a member of the board of directors of Aetna, Inc. From 2010-2015, Dr. Coye served as Chief Innovation Officer for UCLA Health and head of the Institute for Innovation at UCLA, where she led the health system in identifying new strategies, technologies, products and services to support the large-scale transformation of healthcare. Dr. Coye also advises technology developers, investors, national health systems, and policy makers about disruptive technologies and business models that accelerate transformation.

From 1999-2010 Dr. Coye was Founder and CEO of the Health Technology Center, the premier forecasting organization for emerging technologies in healthcare. She has also served as Commissioner of Health for the State of New Jersey, Director of the California Department of Health Services, and Head of the Division of Public Health Practice at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene.

An elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, Dr. Coye has been a board member of the American Hospital Association and the American Telemedicine Association, and chaired the board of the American Public Health Association and of PATH, one of the largest nonprofit organizations in global health.

Steve Lieber Advisor

A seasoned healthcare management executive, Steve Lieber has over 35 years of experience in healthcare, primarily in healthcare association management. Currently, Steve works on governance development, business strategy and international expansion for associations and early stage companies.

From 2000 through 2017, Lieber served as President and CEO of HIMSS, the largest healthcare association focused on healthcare information technology (HIT).  Lieber not only served on the Board of Directors of HIMSS and its related corporations, but he also has served on numerous other corporate, non-profit and coalition boards and groups. He is one of the founders of the Certification Commission for HIT and the Health Information Technology Standards Panel, two U.S. federally funded initiatives at the foundation of the U.S. interoperability effort.

Lieber previously served as Executive Director of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) for nearly nine years before accepting a position with the American Hospital Association as Vice President, Division of Personal Membership Groups. Prior experience includes Vice President of Operations for the Illinois Hospital Association; Senior Budget Analyst for the Illinois Bureau of the Budget; and Assistant Administrator, Research and Statistics for Arkansas Social Services.

Lieber holds an MA from the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago, a BA in Psychology from the University of Arkansas, and has completed additional course work at the graduate schools of business at both universities and at the Keller Graduate School of Management.

David is the Project Executive for the Medicaid Transformation Project. Prior to joining AVIA, David was the Chief Client Strategies Officer and a Partner with Leavitt Partners.

David’s expertise lies in the areas of managed care, alternative payment models, and public health. He has established several coalitions focused on these efforts, most notably in the areas of opioid use disorder recovery, individual market stabilization, and consumer-engagement platforms. He is the co-founder of the Health Care Council of a Chicago, a group of Chicago-based health care businesses focused on economic development, system transformation, and social disparities.

David  is a founding member of Third Horizon Strategies, an organization that supports companies with strategic planning responsive to current and expected policy and market environmental conditions. He also serves on the board of the Sinai Hospital System and HIMSS North America. He is also on the Founder’s Council of United States of Care, a non-partisan initiative focused on expanding health care access.

David lives in Chicago with his wife and three children.

Neil Jesuele has had a 42-year career in the consumer and healthcare industries.  For the last 35 years, he has worked in senior positions with Johnson & Johnson and the American Hospital Association with extensive experience in both non-profits and for profits primarily in business development, strategic planning, and general management.    

With the AHA, Neil was its Executive Vice President of Leadership and Business Development and President of its For-Profit Subsidiaries, Health Forum and AHA Services, Inc.  He oversaw the development and growth of numerous companies, subsidiaries and initiatives focused on governance, quality and performance improvement, technology, finance, data, and diversity and inclusion among others.

Margaret is the President & CEO of HopeLab where she leads a multidisciplinary team combining behavioral science, user-centered design, rigorous research and partnerships with innovators to create technologies and products that help people thrive.

Prior to HopeLab, Margaret spent 17 years at the California HealthCare Foundation in a number of roles, including Director of Public Financing and Policy and Director of the Innovations for the Underserved program. She also founded the CHCF Health Innovation Fund, a mission-focused fund investing in health care technology and service companies that improve access to and lower costs of health care.

Margaret holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and an A.B. in English Literature from Princeton University. She serves on the boards of the Health Initiative of the Americas, Health Leads and the DaVita Village Trust and advises a number of early stage health care services and technology companies.

Roy Smythe, MD has been appointed CEO of HX360. Dr. Smythe has most recently been the first Chief Medical Officer of AVIA. Prior to joining AVIA, Dr. Smythe served as the Senior Vice President for Institute Development and Medical Director of Innovation for the Scott & White Healthcare system. He was also tenured Professor of Surgery, Medicine, and Molecular Medicine, and the Glen and Rita K. Roney Endowed Chair for the Texas A&M Health Science Center.

Dr. Smythe is an expert in the areas of health care innovation and integrated health care delivery strategy. Throughout his career, Dr. Smythe has focused on exploring innovation — as an internationally-recognized specialty surgeon, a leading molecular therapeutics laboratory investigator, a medical school and health system department chair, and health system executive. His time as a health system leader was focused on a number of clinical, academic and administrative areas, including governance, strategic planning and innovation.

He has published more than 300 manuscripts, articles and essays in both the academic and lay press in subject areas ranging from biomedical investigation and clinical delivery process, to the more human aspects of medical care. He is currently a featured contributor for Forbes.

Dr. Smythe is a passionate evangelist for the need to change the way that health care is delivered in our lifetimes, and the ability to do so using strategies and technologies that are currently available.
