Innovation Consultant Leader

Healthcare systems are making major moves to prepare for an uncertain future. They are reengineering clinical care processes, developing new capabilities in population health and risk management, partnering with new vendors and creating new ways to appeal to the needs of modern healthcare consumers. All of these changes represent innovations in care delivery. To enhance and reinforce health systems’ efforts in these areas, AVIA is increasingly asked by health systems for support in building their Innovation Capacity and process infrastructure to support innovation. The Innovation Consultant Leader, will be charged with leading project based engagements with forward-leaning health systems to identify leading innovation practices and to recommend organizational processes to accelerate results.

Key Responsibilities

The Innovation Consultant Leader will be accountable to:

  • Lead engagements and managing senior leadership relationships within health systems.
  • Manage AVIA’s knowledge of cutting-edge innovation practices and monitoring the innovation landscape.
  • Evaluate provider members’ current capabilities and creating baseline understandings of their capacity to innovate.
  • Facilitate discussions and interviews among senior leadership within health systems to craft a vision and execution plan for innovating.
  • Serve as a thought leader on innovation capacity best practices.
  • Ensure Innovation Capacity engagements position clients to successfully participate in other AVIA offerings (i.e., cohorts, rapid results)
  • Build AVIA’s Innovation consulting practice, including the hiring and management of staff.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Ideal candidates will have previous management consulting experience in healthcare and have familiarity with organizational design and/or innovation practices.
  • Deep experience in healthcare, preferably in the provider space, either directly or as a consultant or vendor to the industry.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Ability to interact with healthcare c-suite as the ‘level of thought’ partner.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and keep projects within scope/budget.
  • Exceptional writing and communications skills with the ability to create compelling client deliverables (ppt, word).
  • Interest in and/or experience with innovative technology-enabled healthcare solutions (e.g., digital health)
  • Comfort working and taking initiative in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to travel 35% of the time is required

Provider Solutions Leader

Members of the Provider Solutions team at AVIA serve as subject matter experts for our health systems, helping them navigate the complex landscape of technology-enabled solutions to solve their most pressing problems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on contemporary provider challenges most important to AVIA health system clients.
  • Interact with health system leaders and front line staff to gather input on strategic priorities and share back opportunities for technology to drive innovation.
  • Lead AVIA cohorts to bring forward the best fit solutions to address provider identified challenges.
    • Interact with provider members to assess strategic context and operational constraints.
    • Develop a fact-based perspective on customer/end-user needs, constraints and opportunities.
    • Interact with technology-enabled solution vendors to evaluate solution effectiveness.
    • Guide health systems through the process of evaluating and selecting their best fit solution, working to drive adoption at scale across the network.
    • In conjunction with the Client Operations team, drive solution adoption.
  • Support entrepreneurs interacting with AVIA, particularly through the cohort process.
    • Provide input and coaching to entrepreneurs as they bring their solution forward to the AVIA network.
    • Share learnings from AVIA network members about their pressing strategic needs to inform company product roadmaps and pitches.
  • Support solution adoption across the broader AVIA network by providing technical expertise and guidance to members of AVIA’s Innovator Network.
  • Speak at conferences and events regarding the trends and opportunities within their realm of expertise.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience within the healthcare sector, preferably with direct experience working with or for healthcare providers in a strategic capacity.
  • Advanced degree in healthcare (MPH, MHA) or MBA with a focus in healthcare preferred.
  • Ability to synthesize and derive insights from large amounts of activity in the healthcare market.
  • Interest in and/or experience with innovative technology-enabled healthcare solutions (e.g., digital health); experience with health care venture capital or solution implementation a plus.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present to internal and external senior management teams.
  • Superb problem solving skills and strong interpersonal skills to effectively convey management needs to colleagues and functions throughout the company.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time is required.
